MEL Composites pioneered the application of sandwich structures in wind turbine blades and nacelles in Spain. Highly resistant to atmospheric conditions and requiring minimal maintenance throughout the structure's lifespan (over 25 years).

The nacelles of next-generation wind turbines are self-supporting structures; and the use of sandwich construction reduces transportation and installation costs while providing a high level of thermal and acoustic insulation.

The use of rigid foam sandwich for blade construction offers a series of advantages; from a significant weight reduction to greater production capacity in infusion processes by using the core as a resin conductor. All of this implies a significant reduction in manufacturing costs compared to other similar systems.
