RESINS

Resins act as the support matrix for the fibers, impregnating them and forming the structure of the composite. Resins provide compressive strength and create adhesion between the fibers and laminate layers, while keeping the fibers in the correct position and orientation. Several types of resin are available, with the most commonly used being polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy. They can be used in many different construction methods depending on the chosen process, with options including hand or wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, infusion, and RTM, or as pre-impregnated materials where the resin is already combined with the reinforcing fibers.

CORES

Cores form the intermediate layer of sandwich-type composite structures. They are typically low-density materials that separate and stabilize the laminate skins and provide most of the sandwich's shear stiffness. Sandwich manufacturing allows for high stiffness-to-weight ratios in composite structures.

FIBERS

Reinforcement fibers are the main structural component that drives, among other things, the tensile strength of structures. There are several types, with glass, carbon, and aramid fibers being the most commonly used in composites. They can be used directly from the yarn or as fabrics, multiaxial or unidirectional stitched, in a wide range of weights and weave styles.

EQUIPMENT

For composite processes such as RTM, vacuum bagging, and infusion, reliable equipment is essential. MEL has selected equipment specifically designed for each function, maximizing production efficiency and helping to ensure a perfect result at all times.

Disposables

MEL has carefully selected a full range of consumables specially chosen to provide effective and trouble-free production for all types of composite processes.
