NANOTURES & MEL COMPOSITES WINNERS OF JEC 2023 AWARDS

MEL Composites, a leading Spanish supplier of materials, engineering, and technical support for the advanced composites sector and an AEMAC Associate, participates in winning a JEC Innovation Award for its work supporting its long-time major collaborator: Nanotures.

Nanotures, in collaboration with MEL Composites and other partners such as Sicomin, Fibertex Nonwovens, Gavazzi, MAP Yachting, Composyst, Saertex, and Sky Advanced Materials/Zoltek and DIAB (AEMAC members) has created composite structural beams to support the deck of the new Spanish football stadium for Real Madrid, scheduled to open later this year. The lightweight 75 m sandwich-core beams simplify the lifting and installation process, as well as significantly reduce the weight and energy consumption of their displacement and lifting motors.

The JEC Innovation Awards are recognized as the most prestigious awards in the composite materials industry, and Nanotures, along with its partners including MEL Composites, has won the 2023 Innovation Award in the Construction and Civil Engineering category. The 2023 award winners were announced at a ceremony held in Paris on March 2, where the award was presented to Nanotures directors Bartolomé Simonet and José María Lozano, along with Eduardo Galofré, General Manager of MEL Composites, and Philippe Marcovich, President of Sicomin.

We have been a proud technical partner and materials supplier to Nanotures for many years and are delighted that the awards committee has recognized the importance of this composite materials infrastructure project.

MEL Composites is passionate about accelerating the adoption of composite materials in the architecture and civil engineering sectors, and projects like this latest innovation from Nanotures play a key role in highlighting the possibilities enabled by composite materials.
