Therefore, we develop tailored courses delivered on-site, adapted to the technological level and objectives of each company.

Applied training for Singular Aircraft

Singular Aircraftmanufacturer of FLYAX Ithe largest amphibious UAV in the world, recently started a project to increase the use of composite materials in the manufacturing of its aircraft.

In this context, the MEL Composites team provided comprehensive support, including advice on material selection, recommendations for configuring a new clean room and production area, as well as an intensive three-day training course for the technical and manufacturing team.

Practical learning in a real production environment

After a theoretical introduction on composite materials and manufacturing processes, the training moved to the workshop, where Singular technicians participated in the manufacturing of two aerospace components:

A solid laminate cover for the wing skin

A leading edge section in sandwich structure with foam core

Both parts were manufactured using vacuum infusion, achieving a significant weight reduction compared to the original aluminum solutions, as well as an improvement in structural efficiency.

Optimization of the technological transition process

According to Eduardo Galofré, CEO of MEL Compositesthe success in the transition from metals to composite materials depends on the correct definition of the technological level of the process:

“In a successful transition to composite materials, it is essential to identify the appropriate technological level. In the case of Singular Aircraft, manufacturing through vacuum infusion allows for excellent results in weight reduction and quality, avoiding the complexity and cost associated with processes like autoclave prepreg.”

Focus on process control and repeatability

For clients starting to use composite materials, MEL Composites focuses its approach on the critical success factors: material selection, control of the lamination process, workshop conditions, and curing strategy.

The supply of an optimized package of materials and consumables, combined with practical training, allows for the reduction of process variables and ensures consistent and repeatable results in production.

This collaboration with Singular Aircraft reinforces MEL Composites' commitment to the transfer of technical knowledge and the development of industrial capabilities in the field of advanced composite materials.

“Eduardo and the MEL Composites team have helped us significantly accelerate our composite material production. As part of our strategy to reduce the weight of fuselages and increase in-house manufacturing of components, it was essential to establish a solid, reliable, and high-quality production process.”

“The new wing skin and leading edge parts developed alongside MEL Composites represent just the first step in our transition to lightweight structures in composite materials. We are currently preparing our facilities and tooling to expand production to more monolithic components and foam sandwich structures.”

Miquel Colom
Singular Aircraft

["post-5715","proyecto","type-proyecto","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
